How is this different from surveillance?
It’s built to be used with your team’s explicit agreement. Screenshots are optional and off by default, and owners can flip on HIPAA or attorney-client mode in one toggle so privileged work is never captured. You see when work happened, on what apps, and how productive it was — to manage the business, not to spy.
How long does deployment actually take?
Minutes for the whole team. You download one installer and share the link. It installs silently and each computer auto-registers itself to your account — nothing to type, no per-machine config, no IT ticket. Works for remote contractors on their own PCs too.
Does it take screenshots?
Only if you turn them on. Screenshots are an optional add-on, off by default and admin-controlled. When enabled they’re auto-suppressed during HIPAA, attorney-client, idle time, and any excluded window. Don’t want them? Skip the add-on and use the activity dashboards alone.
Where does the data live?
By default on tracker.runbyitself.com (our cloud). For regulated industries we ship the same code as a self-host package — point a Linux server at it and you own every byte. SQLite under the hood, easy to back up.

Yes — that’s exactly who we built this for.
